My kit covers all my overall flashlight needs pretty well. The Freyr was my first Olight that I bought for EDC and for letting the dogs out at night. You never go out after dark without a flashlight where I live because of large spiders and the massive webs they build and destroy every night. The Freyr is the light I slip into my pocket on the go.
I wanted an RGB flashlight to avoid shinning a bright light in my dogs’ eyes, but I find that RGB lights have many more uses. Red avoids disturbing the human eye’s natural night vision, so red is great astronomy and is less disruptive around a camp site. Green is great for map reading while preserving night vision, it has greater range than other colors, and many animals cannot see it. Blue is great for following blood trails, detecting chemical fluid leaks, and night fishing.
My Olantern is my main shelf display piece, but I pull it out pretty often when I am working on something and I need some extra area light. I use my Perun headlamp all the time. Spot lighting what I am working on, reading in low light situations, hiking after dark, and whatnot. Finally, my Mini Marauder, which is basically the perfect flashlight. Its floodlight lights up the whole yard, so I can instantly make sure there are no predators in the yard and the spotlight is even more impressive. Combined with the RGB functionality, it is the perfect overall flashlight for my needs.
